Because the society is highly patriarchal, many grassroots women face more discrimination than men. Despite indigenous women’s contributions to pastoral life, they only have limited access to and control over key productive resources in their communities; there is also minimal or no inclusion of grassroot women in decision making bodies in their societies; thus, this is an opportunity for indigenous women from the fourteen clusters to meet and discuss, as well as assess the situation of their fellow grassroot women, if they are included in the ongoing process in county and national levels. The avenue also provides indigenous women, who represent the grassroot women from the clusters, with a platform to analyze, monitor, and document the outcomes of the yearly women’s conference.
